Alessio Botta received his PhD (Dottorato di Ricerca) in Computer Science and Engineering from the IMT Lucca Institute for Advanced Studies in April 2008 with a thesis on Soft Computing and Context Adaptation, under the joint supervision of Prof. Beatrice Lazzerini and Prof. Francesco Marcelloni. Currently, he is a Partner at McKinsey & Co., leading McKinsey Analytics in the Mediterranean Offfice.
During his PhD, he published more than 15 research articles in international journals and conferences on the topics of context adaptation of fuzzy systems, constrained and multi-objective genetic algorithms, computational intelligence techniques for global computing and fuzzy matching of graphs. Also, he worked as Research Scholar and Senior Lecturer at the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Suffolk University in Boston and as Teaching Assistant at the Department of Information Engineering, University of Pisa.
Previous to starting his PhD, he received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Information Technology Engineering and the Laurea Specialistica degree (cum laude) in Information Technology Engineering for Business Management from the University of Pisa in 2002 and 2004, respectively.
