Great news for the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca based on the results published by U-Multirank, the independent ranking launched and funded by the European Commission. Performances of universities are ranked on the basis of some thirty indicators covering five areas: teaching and learning, research, knowledge transfer, international orientation and regional engagement. Lucca's "School of Excellence" further improved the brilliant results obtained in the previous report, with a few pleasant surprises.
IMT School ranks 1st in Italy among the 44 PhD schools, ahead of the Bocconi University in Milan and the Politecnico in Bari. IMT School also obtained an excellent result for foreign degree-seeking students (internationalisation), ranking 1st, once again in front of Bocconi University and Bari's Politecnico. This result is particularly important for the School, underlining the great attraction foreign students hold for the School.
Moreover, IMT School ranked 3rd in the world among universities established post-1980.
"The authoritative results issued by the EU consortium, which are in line with the excellent results IMT School obtained by the Italian VQR ranking, is the outcome of rigorous recruitment procedures for both professors and students, a selection based on objective and transparent criteria of merit - explains Prof. Pietro Pietrini, Director of IMT School - and these results motivate us to continue to develop the programme of growth that we intend to pursue".
