The role of women in national liberation struggles in Africa, the impact of the female presence on company performance, the women authors of ancient Greece, the study of “Code pink” as a new organizational model for taking care of victims of violence, female entrepreneurship, anti-violence centers, the construction of gender. These are some of the topics treated in the scientific studies of the winners of the third edition of the “Analysis and contrast of gender stereotypes” Award (“Analisi e contrasto degli stereotipi di genere” in Italian), supported and promoted by the Region of Tuscany.
The award ceremony will be held on Tuesday October 15th at 5 pm in the Aula Magna of the University for Foreigners of Siena, one of the seven universities involved in the project, along with the IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, the University of Florence, the University of Pisa, the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa and the University of Siena.
The evaluation committee, made up by Lara Baldacci, Lorenzo Bosi, Brunella Casalini, Cristina Ceccherelli, Vinzia Fiorino, Lara Lazzeroni, Gaetana Morgante, Emiliano Ricciardi e Lucinda Spera, chose the 10 winners from amongst the university and doctoral students in Tuscan universities who wrote a thesis or scientific article on themes surrounding gender stereotypes and how to overcome them from various scientific perspectives. Each winner will receive a €1000 prize and their studies will be published and deposited at the Pietro Leopoldo Regional Library in Florence.
The Vice President of the Region of Tuscany, Monica Barni, will take part in the award ceremony, as well as Pietro Cataldi, Rector of the University for Foreigners of Siena, Rossanna Pugnalini, President of the Regional Commission for Equal Opportunities and several members of the evaluation committee.
