Numerical analysis; Dynamical systems; Computation cost reduction; Computational Mechanics; Informatics

Profile

Researcher in the field of Numerical Analysis, investigating the computational aspects of mathematics in all its domains, with particular emphasis on the techniques used to perform numerical calculations, including the use of electronic computers, both vectorial and parallel. In particular, the School is searching for a researcher with experience in methods and techniques for the analysis of large-scale dynamical systems described by sets of partial and/or ordinary differential equations, in order to reduce the computation cost. An attitude to perform interdisciplinary research is especially sought. Experience in knowledge and technology transfer is also highly requested.

Activity

The tenure-track assistant professor that will be hired after the evaluation procedure will carry out research and teaching activities within the disciplinary scientific sector "Numerical Analysis" (settore concorsuale 01/A5 – Analisi Numerica – SSD MAT/08 Analisi Numerica).

The profile sought is expected to carry on research on methods for computational science, to be applied to frontier cross-disciplinary research problems potentially across all the research units of the School, interacting with experts from other disciplines, including informatics, computational mechanics, automation and control. The successful candidate will work on the development of methods and tools for the analysis of large-scale dynamical systems. The objective is to develop methods to reduce the computational cost of the analysis as arises in many scientific and engineering domains. The assistant professor will contribute to the supervision of PhD students and to the educational activities of the School, delivering courses both on fundamental and advanced topics of numerical analysis. The assistant professor is also expected to actively contribute to the knowledge and technology transfer activities of the School.
