Complicated tricks are best practiced in dreams," suggested sports psychologist Paul Tholey, a pioneer of lucid dream research. He demonstrated this through studies and self-experiments, showing that practicing sports techniques in lucid dreams-where one is aware of dreaming-can lead to real-world improvements. Although the body remains still during sleep, the "dream" body can move, similar to mental training, where imagined practice enhances physical performance. This talk will first present anecdotal reports and qualitative studies on lucid dream training, followed by three studies, such as dart throwing, and conclude with a discussion on motor learning and its sports applications.
