The cyber landscape is rapidly expanding with the advent of new Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. Wearables, VR devices, medical equipment, internet-connected household appliances, and vehicles have seen exponential growth in recent years. This trajectory is set to persist, with billions of smart devices expected to become ubiquitous in our daily lives in the near future. These IoT-enabled smart environments not only enhance individuals' quality of life but also handle a wealth of previously untapped data with significant forensic value.

While this pervasive IoT-powered ecosystem holds immense potential, it has yet to fully harness its capabilities in revolutionizing digital forensics within these environments. Furthermore, given the increasingly critical role of IoT devices and applications in the cyberspace, ensuring their security against malicious activities is paramount.

During his presentation, Prof. Lazzeretti will delve into various research endeavors centered around boosting the security and privacy of IoT technologies. These include: 1) Private user authentication; 2) Safeguarding IoT networks and forthcoming internet technologies; 3) Ensuring the security of critical infrastructure; 4) Device identification.

He will also spotlight specific IoT devices such as drones and XR devices, discussing current research activities aimed at enhancing their security measures.
