Will we ever have a reliable model of human behaviour? Never mind the rhetorical question, humans are part of the control loop in many modern technologies, and lacking the equations of human behaviour, control designers must cope with the fact of having an unpredictable but irreplaceable element in the loop.  In many cases, this demands a different approach to control design.  We will explore one such cases: semiautonomous vehicles control, and we will explore some of the implications in the form of a mix of techniques from modern control theory, discrete event systems theory, and operations research.
