Workshop “Archivi in Rete”
This workshop delves into the multifaceted topic of photographic archives, bringing together scholars and professionals to explore the intersections of historical research, preservation, and cataloguing of photographic heritage. The morning session features academic presentations on key themes such as the global networks of early Victorian photography and the interplay between photography, theater, and performance. The afternoon roundtable provides a platform for dialogue among prominent experts from Italian institutions, focusing on the experiences, challenges, and best practices involved in surveying and cataloguing photographic collections. The event seeks to foster collaboration and innovation in the conservation and promotion of photographic heritage.
The workshop serves as the concluding event of the Archivi in Rete project, led by Professor Linda Bertelli as scientific coordinator. Dedicated to surveying the photographic collections of public and private institutions in Lucca, the project was co-funded by the Regione Toscana and carried out by the LYNX Research Unit in collaboration with the Comune di Lucca, Archivio Fotografico Lucchese, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, Hyperborea, and Photolux.
