Big Data poses challenges and offers opportunities that require the adoption and development of new technologies. Since, according to many sources, most of the data often associated with Big Data is of an unstructured nature, the processing and analysis of text is paramount in this endeavour. The seminar will outline some of the more promising and effective technologies for unleashing the power of the information within the stack of textual data -- machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to leverage data obtaining useful models for recommendation, emerging themes identification, semantic indexing, categorization, trend analysis, social network analysis.
