Given the interdisciplinary nature of IMT School for Advanced Studies, appointed candidate is required to improve the dialogue among different disciplines converging in the analysis and management of cultural heritage, in particular ancient art history, aesthetic, history, philosophy and visual studies. Researcher should take part of Lynx research unit activities, especially those projects regarding images, their reception and use. Research is required to analyze and compare examples of notebooks dating from V to XV century and to discuss (re)interpretation/(re)presentation of reality in graphic arts using verbal and visual languages. Appointed research will be involved in IMT didactic activities, in the supervision PhD students, contribute to IMT track AMCH research seminars, participate in Lynx Research Unit activities.
Appointed candidate has to develop research and didactic activities in medieval art history. In particular she/he has to study word-images relationship in manuscripts and notebooks from V to XV century. Candidate is invited to take into consideration ancient premises and Renaissance development too. Based on a strong interdisciplinarity, the research focuses on the interpretation and presentation of external reality through verbal and visual languages. Appointed researcher has to prove a mature experience in the study of medieval art history and graphic arts, focusing in word-image relation before XV century. Appointed candidate must show an excellent knowledge of the state of the art in the medieval art history. Furthermore she/he must have a deep understanding of ongoing researchs in medieval history, philosophy and literature.
PhD in a field related to the present call obtained in Italy or abroad. Curriculum with a suitable scientific background for carrying out research activity in the required field. Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken.

Procedure
A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters. Applicants selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis are interviewed at the Job Market Meetings in which the Institute is planning to participate, if applicable to the specific academic sector. Alternatively, individual preliminary interviews may also be conducted at IMT or by conference call. Travel expenses to Lucca for the preliminary interview will not be reimbursed. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a Job Market Presentation open to IMT faculty members and students. Travel expenses for the Job Market Presentation will be reimbursed.
Selection Criteria
The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic); Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
