Profile

 

IMT School invites applications for a Post-doctoral Fellow with a background in forensic neuroscience and forensic psychology. The ideal candidate will have a significant experience in the field of forensic psychology, in particular in the evaluation of imputability and assessment of capacity to act, in behavioral psychology and decision-making processes, neuroscience of social and antisocial behavior. Extensive knowledge of standardized psychometric tools for cognitive and behavioral evaluation is also required. Demostrated experience in the analysis and in the writing of expert reports in both civil and penal forensic contexts is necessary. Field experience in the forensic juridicial environment will be considered a plus. Experience in tutoring students in forensic psychology and junior collaborators also is preferred. Italian state board certification in Psychology (National Psychology Register section A) is mandatory. The succesful Candidate will work in acquiring and elaborating data in the above fields, with a direct first-person involvment in forensic juridicial cases both in civil and penal arenas, and will be responsible for the writing of scientific reports.

Activity

 

The Candidate will actively take part in a research program and in field activities aimed at investigating the neurobiological and psychological correlates of human social and antisocial behavior and their implications and applications within the forensic juridicial areas.

Formal requirements

 

  • Master degree in Psychology or Cognitive Neuroscience;
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience or psychology,  preferably acquired within the last 4 years;
  • At least 5 years of research and field activity with experience in the investigation and evaluation of imputability and ability to act;
  • Excellent knowledge of English language

  • A good track record of research experience and outcomes related to the field of this position;
  • Experience in collecting behavioral and psychometric data for assessing imputability and ability to act in humans.

A Selection Committee, appointed by the Director, assesses all applications on the basis online application info and - if provided - reference letters.Shortlisted candidates, selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis, are invited for a research presentation at IMT. Travel expenses to Lucca for theresearch presentation interview will not be reimbursed.

The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic);Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
