Profile

The ideal candidate will conduct cutting edge research in the area of applied microeconomics, broadly intended. 
The successful candidates demonstrate a strong potential in research and the ability to work in a team. 
The positions involve mentoring PhD students, limited teaching, and participating in developing the School’s research agenda. 
Knowledge of Italian is not required, while excellent written and spoken English is mandatory.
Experience in both theoretical analysis and empirical analysis is welcome. 
The researcher will contribute to the ogoing research project focusing on the analysis to the Tuscan Health Ecosystem (THE). In this regard, interest and expertise in health economics, field experiements, or applications of AI to economics are positevely consdidered.
General interest in multidisciplinary research is welcome. 

Activity

The candidate will work in the AXES unit, contributing to its development along a number of dimensions:
- excellent publication records
- intense scientific collaboration with AXES members
- supervision of PHD students of the AXES research unit
- participation to AXES scientific activities 
- teaching at PHD level in the phd tracks to which AXES contributes
- promoting multidisciplinary research about economic phenomena

Formal requirements

PhD obtained or to be obtained at the latest by the time of taking up employment (approx. by September 2024)

Gross amount

€ 41.000/year

The Italian Tax Agency may grant a tax relief of ~90% in the first six years of residence in Italy if the applicant can demonstrate that s/he had tax residence abroad for at least two years before the starting date.

Selection procedure and criteria

Selection procedure conditions are transparent and are based on international standards.

Procedure

A Selection Committee, appointed by the Rector, assesses all applications on the basis online application info. Applicants selected on the basis of the preliminary analysis are interviewed at the Job Market Meetings in which the Institute is planning to participate, if applicable to the specific academic sector. Alternatively, individual interviews may also be conducted at IMT or by conference call. Travel expenses to Lucca for the interview will be reimbursed.

Selection Criteria

The evaluation criteria are based on: Quality of research activity, including publications in peer-reviewed journals and references; Research organization experience and participation in international/national research projects and research periods in public and private institutions (academic and non-academic); Relevance of the candidate's profile for the development of IMT's research activities; Teaching, mentoring and supervision experience; Motivation; Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken; As well as any other requirements as specified in the advertisement.
